Types of Notifications
Zolt delivers notifications through three channels. Each channel suits a different working style, and you can use any combination of them simultaneously.- In-App Notifications — These appear in the notification bell (🔔) in the top-right corner of Zolt. In-app notifications are always on and give you a running list of recent activity. Click the bell to open the notification panel, where you can mark items as read, jump to the relevant task, or clear your queue.
- Email Notifications — Zolt sends email alerts to your registered address for important events like task assignments, @mentions, and due date reminders. Email notifications are configurable — you can enable or disable them per event type, or replace real-time emails with a daily or weekly digest.
- Slack Notifications — If your workspace has connected the Zolt Slack integration, you can receive notifications directly in a Slack channel or as a direct message from the Zolt bot. This is useful for teams that already live in Slack and want Zolt updates to surface there without switching apps. Slack notifications mirror the same triggers available for email.
What Triggers a Notification
Zolt sends notifications when specific events occur that are relevant to you. The following events can each trigger a notification:- Task assigned to you — When someone assigns a new task to you or adds you as an assignee on an existing task.
- Due date reminder — A reminder sent 24 hours before a task you own or are assigned to is due.
- @mention — When a teammate mentions you by name in a task comment or project update.
- Comment reply — When someone replies to a thread you’ve participated in, or comments on a task you’re watching.
- Status change — When a task you’re assigned to or watching moves to a new status (for example, from In Progress to Blocked).
Configuring Notification Preferences
You control which events send you notifications and through which channels. To update your preferences:- Click your profile avatar in the bottom-left corner of Zolt and select Settings.
- Navigate to the Notifications tab.
- You’ll see a table listing each notification trigger (task assigned, @mention, due date reminder, etc.) with toggles for In-App, Email, and Slack (if connected).
- Toggle each channel on or off per event type to match your preferences.
- Changes save automatically — no need to click a save button.
In-app notifications cannot be fully disabled. Even if you turn off email and Slack, the in-app notification bell will always log activity relevant to you so you can review it at your own pace.
Notification Digest
If you find real-time email notifications disruptive, you can switch to a digest format instead. A digest bundles all your notifications from the previous period into a single email so you can review them in one sitting. To enable a digest:- Go to Settings > Notifications.
- Under the Email Delivery section, select your preferred digest frequency:
- Daily Digest — Sent each morning with all activity from the previous day.
- Weekly Digest — Sent every Monday morning with a summary of the previous week.
- When a digest is active, real-time email notifications are replaced by the digest for all events you have email enabled for. In-app notifications are unaffected and continue to appear in real time.
