Projects are the core organizing unit in Zolt. Each project gives your team a dedicated space to plan work, track progress, and collaborate — whether you’re running a product launch, an ongoing support queue, or a one-off initiative. This guide walks you through everything from creating your first project to keeping your workspace tidy over time.

Creating a Project

1

Click New Project

From the left sidebar, click the + New Project button at the bottom of your project list. A creation dialog will appear.
2

Name your project

Enter a clear, descriptive name for the project. This name appears in the sidebar, task views, and notifications, so make it recognizable to your whole team.
3

Add a description

Write a brief description explaining the project’s purpose, goals, or scope. This helps new team members understand the context at a glance when they’re invited.
4

Set visibility

Choose who can see the project:
  • Team — visible to all members of your Zolt workspace.
  • Private — visible only to members you explicitly invite.
5

Choose a template (optional)

Select a starting template if you want the project pre-populated with sections, tasks, or a common workflow. You can also start with a blank project and build from scratch. Click Create Project to finish.

Organizing with Sections

Sections let you divide a project into logical groups — by phase, status, team, or any other structure that fits your workflow. By default, a new project includes a single section, but you can add as many as you need. To add a section:
  1. Open your project and scroll to the bottom of the existing task list.
  2. Click + Add Section.
  3. Type a name for the section (for example, Backlog, In Progress, or Week 1) and press Enter.
You can drag sections to reorder them, and drag tasks between sections to update their status or phase. In Board View, each section becomes its own column, making it easy to visualize workflow stages.

Project Views

Zolt offers three views for every project. Switch between them using the view selector at the top of the project page.
List View displays all tasks in a structured, scrollable list grouped by section. Each row shows the task name, assignee, due date, and status at a glance. This view works best for detailed planning and bulk editing — you can update fields inline without opening individual tasks. Use the Sort and Filter controls to slice the list by assignee, due date, priority, or custom fields.

Archiving and Deleting Projects

When a project wraps up, you have two options for removing it from your active workspace: archiving or deleting. Archiving a Project Archiving hides the project from your sidebar and removes it from active views, but all data — tasks, comments, files, and history — is fully preserved. You can restore an archived project at any time. To archive a project:
  1. Open the project and click the ⋯ More menu in the project header.
  2. Select Archive Project.
  3. Confirm in the dialog that appears.
To view or restore archived projects, go to Settings > Archived Projects, find the project, and click Restore. Deleting a Project Deleting a project permanently removes it and all of its contents from Zolt. To delete a project:
  1. Open the project and click the ⋯ More menu in the project header.
  2. Select Delete Project.
  3. Type the project name to confirm, then click Delete Permanently.
Deleted projects cannot be recovered. All tasks, comments, attachments, and history associated with the project are permanently erased. If you’re unsure, archive the project instead — you can always delete it later.

Project Templates

Once you’ve built a project structure that works well for your team, you can save it as a template to reuse on future projects. Templates capture your sections, task names, and default field configurations — without copying over any existing data or assignees. To save a project as a template:
  1. Open the project and click the ⋯ More menu.
  2. Select Save as Template.
  3. Give the template a name and an optional description, then click Save.
Your saved templates appear in the template picker whenever you create a new project. This is especially useful for recurring project types like sprint cycles, content calendars, or onboarding checklists.
