# Update Your Zolt Profile, Settings, and Preferences

> Update your Zolt display name, avatar, email, password, timezone, language preferences, and linked SSO accounts in personal settings.

Your Zolt profile is how teammates identify you across projects, comments, and notifications. Keeping your personal settings accurate — especially your timezone and email address — ensures you receive the right notifications at the right times and that due dates appear correctly in your local time. You can update all of these settings at any time from your account preferences.

## Editing Your Profile

Your public profile is visible to everyone in your workspace. To update it, go to **Settings → Profile**.

* **Display name** — enter the name you want teammates to see next to your tasks and comments. This does not need to match your account email.
* **Avatar** — click the avatar circle to upload a photo. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, and WebP; the maximum file size is 5 MB. Your avatar is automatically cropped to a circle, so a square or portrait image works best.
* **Job title** — add your role or title to help teammates understand who you are and what you do. This field is optional but recommended in larger workspaces.
* **Bio** — a short freeform field (up to 160 characters) where you can add any additional context about yourself or your team.

Click **Save Changes** when you're done. Profile updates are visible to your workspace immediately.

## Account Settings

Account settings control your login credentials. Navigate to **Settings → Account** to make changes.

* **Email address** — enter a new email address and click **Update Email**. Zolt sends a verification link to the new address; your email won't change until you click that link. Until then, your original address remains active.
* **Password** — click **Change Password** to open a form where you enter your current password, then your new password twice to confirm. Passwords must be at least 10 characters and include at least one number and one special character. If you use SSO to sign in, the password fields won't appear.

<Info>
  If you've forgotten your current password and can't log in, use the **Forgot password** link on the login page to reset it via your registered email address.

## Timezone & Language

Accurate timezone settings are critical for due date display and deadline notifications. Go to **Settings → Preferences** to configure these options.

* **Timezone** — select your timezone from the dropdown list. Zolt uses this setting to display due dates and scheduled notifications in your local time. If you travel frequently, update this setting whenever you change time zones.
* **Display language** — choose your preferred language for the Zolt interface. Changes take effect immediately after saving; you don't need to refresh the page.

## Linked Accounts

Zolt supports single sign-on (SSO) via Google and GitHub, which lets you log in with an existing account instead of a separate password. To manage linked accounts, go to **Settings → Account → Linked Accounts**.

* **Connect an account** — click **Connect** next to Google or GitHub and complete the OAuth authorization flow. Once connected, you can sign in using that provider.
* **Disconnect an account** — click **Disconnect** to unlink a provider. Make sure you have a password set before disconnecting your only linked SSO account, or you may be locked out.

<Tip>
  Keep your timezone setting up to date even if you're not traveling. If your region observes daylight saving time, confirm that your selected timezone entry handles the transition automatically — most named timezone entries (such as "America/New\_York") do, while fixed UTC offsets (such as "UTC-5") do not.
